We have finalized the Program details for the SOS7 Workshop. Updated and detailed information on Program, Participants, and other information will show up on the website (http://cs.sandia.gov/SOS7/) soon. The expected attendance is 120. We are rushing you the highlights first.
1. March 3, Monday

Each morning we start with Breakfast at 7am, Program starts at 7:30am, break at 9am for 15 minutes, and the morning session ends at 11:30am. The afternoon session starts at 4pm, break at 5:30pm for 15 minutes, and ends at 7:30pm, followed by dinner. It is extremely important that we adhere to the schedule.

Thank you for accepting our invitation for the SOS7 Workshop on Distributed Supercomputing, to be held March 4-6, in Durango, CO, USA. Additional details are available at <http://cs.sandia.gov/SOS7/>. Currently, we expect 120 attendees.
Here is what we would like you to do:
- HOTEL: Make your hotel reservation by calling 800-678-1000 (do mention SOS7) latest by Jan 24, 2003. You should also provide details of who else in the party, choice of winter activities, and any food restrictions. Deposit for one night will be charged on your credit card which can be refunded if you cancel by Feb 5, 2003.
- PERSONAL DETAILS: Please send to Deanna Ceballos ( drcebal@sandia.gov ) your name, email, affiliation, address, and a short bio by Jan 24, 2003. This information will be published in the Program booklet.
- FOREIGN NATIONAL: If you are NOT a US citizen, please fill out the Foreign National Request form AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
We will keep updating the website as we have further details. If there is a major update, we will tell you by email. We will contact you for your individual participation by a separate email.

WHAT IS SOS? SOS is a series of highly interactive Workshops on Distributed Supercomputing, sponsored jointly by the Sandia National Labs, the Oak Ridge National Lab, and the Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH and EPFL). SOS7 in 2003 will be the 7th year. The last one hosted by Sandia was SOS4 in New Orleans, LA, USA in 2000, attended by over 70 people, as many of you will recall. With your help, SOS7 will be the best ever in the series.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: We plan to have a highly interactive program for 3 full days with an expected attendance of 70. (For a much lower attendance or by popular choice we can shorten the program to only 2 full days. Please tell us your thoughts.) Each day we will have a 4.5 hours break for leisure activities, and 7 working hours for the Workshop. We are planning sessions on:
- New Machines (SNL’s Red Storm, ORNL’s X1, LANL’s new cluster, LLNL’s new cluster (MCR), PNL Cluster, ..)
- Report on Recent Workshops and Conferences (Petaflops Architectures, FAST-OS, Cluster Performance Enhancements, SIO, European PVM/MPI, Cluster

REGISTRATION: We will begin with an (optional) evening Reception on Monday, March 3, 2003. Workshop days are March 4, 5, and 6. (We need your input for the 3rd day). With a generous support of our Computer Science Research Institute, a Registration fee of US$100 will cover expenses and all meals except lunches. We are looking into a medium weight unisex parka as a souvenir for the registrants. And, you can buy them for your family and friends.
LOCATION: Direct flights to Durango (DRO) are available from Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), Albuquerque (ABQ), and Phoenix (PHX). A shuttle between DRO and the resort can be arranged. While at the resort, you won’t need a car. If you prefer, drive to Durango from Albuquerque takes 3.5 hours.
ACCOMMODATION: A substantially reduced room rate of US$85.00 per night has been negotiated. [Early Arrival and late stay up to March 7 are allowable at this rate.] Each room has 2 Queen beds, and a kitchenette. There is no charge for additional occupants in the room. A limited number of rooms have a loft with 2 single beds (in addition to 2 Queen beds).
LEISURE ACTIVITIES: Group Rates will be available for skiing at the nearby Purgatory Ski Resort (newly named Durango Mountain Resort), rated among top 10 in the USA. Additionally available non-skiing attractions include: snowmobiles, snowtubing, sleigh rides, ice skating, downtown Durango, Narrow Gauge Railway, and Hot Springs bath and massage.
