Principal Member of Technical Staff
Extreme-scale Computing / Scalable System Software

I am a researcher in the Scalable System Software department at Sandia National Laboratories. Our group develops system software for large-scale parallel computers and applications. My particular research interests are in operating systems, high-performance computing, middleware, and metadata/data management for large-data applications and services. Since joining Sandia in 2012, I've worked on projects involving data fusion, behavior-based disk performance evaluation, and resilience for HPC applications.

I hold an appointment as Research Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico. Before coming to Sandia, I was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, and Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Comprehensive Informatics, at Emory University (2009-2011). Prior to that, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and later Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UNM (2005-2009). Before beginning my research career, I spent several years as a professional software developer for a series of companies which no longer exist.

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2005 from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of Virginia in 1992, and a BS from James Madison University in 1990. I am a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery.
